Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO)

BGC is seeking a visionary and dynamic Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) to lead our sustainability initiatives in Aarhus. As an executive-level position in the Mining & Energy industry, the CSO will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that drive environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for creating a positive impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive sustainability strategies aligned with BGC’s mission and goals.
• Lead cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability practices across all business operations.
• Monitor and report on sustainability performance metrics, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profits, and community groups, to promote sustainable practices.
• Identify and mitigate environmental risks associated with mining and energy operations.
• Drive innovation in sustainable technologies and practices within the industry.
• Provide strategic guidance to the executive team on sustainability-related issues and opportunities.
• Foster a culture of sustainability within the organization through education and engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in sustainability, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability programs.
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and industry standards in the Mining & Energy sector.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to think strategically and drive innovative solutions.
• Experience working with diverse stakeholders and building collaborative partnerships.
• Passion for sustainability and a commitment to making a positive impact.
